There have been numerous undisputable masterpieces in total war modding, such as the strikingly realistic classic Europa Barbarorum or its medieval counterpart Stainless Steel. two and a half units, two beaten up heroes all shouting whatever 'YOU SHALL NOT PASS!' in mandarin is. ![]() and then one stack with a few remnants of that last ones all in the same turn as they tried to take a iron mine from me that was incredibly fun. 'Bruh, really?' īut! I admit there was a turn where my second army got hit by three full stacks. but for all of that and a few units that have names so dumb I'm just like. a bit vexing, getting past the early game when as Ma Teng, that damn Gong of the Yellow Turbans kept spamming armies which made it a chore to finally take that copper mine. Seeing elite units like the Azure Dragons costing the exact same upkeep as saber militia was. yea, worth a try but it truly feels like a beta.ĮDIT: So playing Radious, figured if I was going to talk about it, should at least play it. On the other hand, the unit balance and names need to get better to help set them apart more, balancing still needs to be tweaked and I suffered serious performance issues in the later stages of the game. Its not bad, I think it has a ton of potential, but its still super early so they don't have alternate unit cards, I like most of the hero reworks, I like how units feel and that they are bringing back a clearer tiering system for units. Its sublimity will ever be debated yet always remain objectively irrefutable the fundamental insight it provides into human and perhaps animalistic nature may shape the basis of Total War modding for centuries to come. If you want something closer to vanilla upkeep, you gotta get the freaking 80% increased upkeep mod. ![]() If you do use Radious, don't use the 50% increased upkeep mod. its not bad? But I think the TROM overhaul is shaping up to be better, but yea.ĭIY is probably solid if you want to just change portraits. Three Kingdoms Radious isn't as bad because you don't have to deal with shit like Black Orc Archers and stuff that outright makes the joy and unique nature of factions meaningless, but. Oh, the joys of the AI having a stack just run around in force march because yep. Like an AI reduced to one base can throw 3-4 stacks at you which is just. The thing that tends to make it such a bloody damn chore is the upkeep is so stupidly low that you, and the AI, can just fucking pump out full stacks. They also look a bit different to the named characters which can feel weird. The women still have the same portrait which. The jarring thing, to me, about the portraits in Radious is its only the males that have the reworked portraits. If you want better male portraits, you can try the DIY mods, never tried them myself, but htey overhaul them. Its sublimity will ever be debated yet always remain objectively irrefutable the fundamental insight it provides into human and perhaps animalistic nature may shape the basis of Total War modding for centuries to come. The painting speaks for itself, and it is up to the player to fully absorb its depth. As brilliantly put by Cattalus, " Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo" to describe the artistic qualia of Radious mod would be to describe music to the deaf, color to the blind or beauty to the philistine. Radious mod pries into to the darkest corners of our subconscious, the most visceral of our cognition, the most carnal of our urges, and the most primal of our instincts. This gem is hidden because it does not shine it is buried because its tone is that of abyssal black. As complacent as these self-proclaimed "understanders of strategy" are, they fail to realize that Radious mod is a cult classic, a chef d'oeuvre buried under false preconceptions and unfounded criticism. Sed domi maneas paresque nobis novem continuas fututiones. It takes wisdom to appreciate its subtleties, and courage to side with the unpopular opinion. Philistines and self-proclaimed critics alike will shun Radious mod, but you can’t fault them for that. It will remain underground – treasured by the most avant-garde among intellectuals for its edifying if horrifying insight into the fundaments of human morality. Its take on the abysmal is an illumination in one person’s despair, but a paroxysm of another’s perversion. ![]() Radious mod will not join their ranks its surface is too generic, its presentation too provocative and its messages too obscure.
